        "content": "<p>Magelang, Indonesia \u2014 The Ministry of Religious Affairs (Kemenag) has\nassessed that the health-focused social service (baksos) ahead of Vesak\n2026 at Borobudur Temple in Magelang Regency, Central Java, is organised\nby the Indonesian Buddhist Community Representation (Walubi) and aligns\nwith Kemenag\u2019s priority programme to strengthen religious\nmoderation.<\/p>\n<p>Director-General for Buddhist Community Guidance at Kemenag,\nSupriyadi, in Magelang on Saturday, said one of the indicators of that\nalignment is that the activity places humanity and the welfare of all\npeople at the forefront, irrespective of background.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis activity does not discriminate; instead it opens the door wide\nfor all communities in need of health services. Hopefully after today\u2019s\nexaminations, residents will be able to return to their homes with\nhealth and happiness,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>He welcomed the consistency of Walubi\u2019s Central Leadership Council\n(DPP Walubi) together with all institutions and councils that tirelessly\ndedicate themselves to the nation, including through the health\nbaksos.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis shows that religion is not only understood as spiritual theory,\nbut is manifested in the practice of life within society, in the nation,\nand in the state,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Walubi\u2019s General Chair Siti Hartati Murdaya explained that the\nNational Vesak celebrations always begin with noble activities, ranging\nfrom cleaning and laying flowers at war heroes\u2019 graves across Walubi\u2019s\nregional management areas to the peak of free health services.<\/p>\n<p>Regarding the health baksos, she said it is, as a long-standing\ntradition with maintained quality, intended to deliver good karma and\nhappiness to other living beings.<\/p>\n<p>She expressed appreciation to the central government, regional\ngovernment, the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), the Indonesian\nNational Police (Polri), the management of PT Taman Wisata Candi, and\nthe medical teams and volunteers from various religious backgrounds\n(Islam, Catholic, Protestant Christian, Hindu, and Buddhist) who merged\nin a spirit of gotong royong through the activity.<\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s health baksos involves massive collaboration among major\ninstitutions, such as Suci Paramita Hospital (as promoter and\ncoordinator), RSUP Dr Sardjito Yogyakarta, Army Hospital dr Soedjono\nMagelang, RS Moestopo, PDGI, Perdami Jateng, and several leading\nuniversities, such as Gadjah Mada University (UGM) and Sanata Dharma\nUniversity Yogyakarta.<\/p>\n<p>To ensure 10,000 patients receive optimal service, Walubi deployed a\ntotal of 1,646 personnel, including 237 doctors \u2014 general practitioners,\ndentists, surgeons, and 16 multidisciplinary specialists\n(anesthesiology, ENT, obstetrics and gynaecology, paediatrics, mental\nhealth, dermatology\/venereology, pulmonology, acupuncture, and\northopaedics) \u2014 as well as 309 paramedics.<\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s Vesak celebrations fall on 31 May 2026. Vesak, the\nfestival commemorating three major events in Buddhism: the birth of\nSiddhartha Gautama, Siddhartha attaining full enlightenment as the\nBuddha, and the parinirvana or death of Siddhartha Gautama.<\/p>\n<p>Borobudur Temple, with its Buddhist character, was built around the\n8th century during the reign of the Sailendra Dynasty, in the area\nbetween the Elo and Progo rivers, Magelang Regency.<\/p>",
