Jakarta (ANTARA) \u2014 The owner of a collapsed wall has built a\ntemporary fence at SMPN 182 Jakarta in Kalibata, Pancoran, South\nJakarta, to ensure the safety of students and teachers following the\ncollapse of the residential wall on Sunday, 15 February 2026.<\/p>\n
\u201cA temporary fence has been put up for the safety of the children and\nfor those carrying out the reconstruction work,\u201d said Narwan, Acting\nHead of SMPN 182 Jakarta, speaking to reporters in Jakarta on\nMonday.<\/p>\n
He said the fence construction was progressing well, beginning with\nthe clearance of debris and the demolition of remaining sections of the\nwall by its owner.<\/p>\n
In addition, he said, the embankment along the waterway between SMPN\n182 and a nearby beauty clinic was also being repaired.<\/p>\n
\u201cThankfully, as of today, everything we had hoped for is progressing\nwell, starting with the clearance of debris and other works,\u201d Narwan\nsaid.<\/p>\n
Students and teachers have been assured there is no need to worry\nabout entering the school grounds.<\/p>\n
\u201cToday, the children returned after a one-week break and everything\nwent smoothly. Access to the school is unobstructed, and there are no\nissues in any of the classrooms,\u201d Narwan said.<\/p>\n
Beyond the wall, a garden, a duty room and washbasins will also be\ninstalled in the school area.<\/p>\n
However, the school could not confirm a precise completion date for\nthe construction, given weather conditions and other factors.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat matters is that there is a commitment \u2014 that in itself is a\npositive thing,\u201d Narwan said.<\/p>\n
Infrastructure repairs at SMPN 182 are targeted for completion by 23\nFebruary 2026, following the impact of the wall collapse beside the\nschool on Sunday, 15 February 2026.<\/p>\n
Earlier, footage went viral on the Instagram account @jakartaselatan24jam<\/span> showing a\nCCTV screenshot capturing the moment the wall next to SMPN 182 collapsed\non the afternoon of Sunday, 15 February 2026.<\/p>\n The Jakarta Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) said the wall\ncollapse was caused by unstable soil conditions.<\/p>\n The incident blocked a drainage channel, though authorities confirmed\nthere were no fatalities or injuries.<\/p>\n Losses resulting from the incident are still being assessed.<\/p>",
