        "content": "<p>Wal-Mart to enter RI<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA (JP): Another foreign retail business will enter<br>\nIndonesia through a franchising mechanism.<\/p>\n<p>Wal-Mart Stores Inc. of the United States announced yesterday<br>\nthat it will enter Indonesia early next year following the<br>\nsigning of an agreement between Wal-Mart Stores and the Lippo<br>\nGroup of Indonesia in Bentonville, Arkansas, the United States,<br>\nlast week.<\/p>\n<p>Wal-Mart Stores will provide retail expertise and management<br>\nservices for the operation of Wal-Mart Supercenter at Lippo<br>\nKarawaci in Tangerang, west of here. The ownership will be held<br>\nby the Lippo Group as the retail industry remains closed to<br>\nforeign investors.<\/p>\n<p>Wal-Mart Supercenter, which will occupy an area of 180,000<br>\nsquare feet at Lippo Karawaci, will offer various kinds of<br>\nmerchandise.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to Wal-Mart, a number of foreign retailers, like<br>\nSogo and the defunct Yaohan, entered Indonesia through<br>\nfranchising arrangements with local firms.
