W. Kalimantan to install governor<\/p>\n
PONTIANAK, West Kalimantan: The legislative body has set Jan.
\n12 for the inauguration of the West Kalimantan Governor for the
\n1998\/2003 period although President Soeharto has not approved any
\nof the top three candidates yet.<\/p>\n
Chief of the legislative body, Muchalli Taufiek, told Antara
\nyesterday a rescheduling was unlikely because incumbent Governor
\nAspar Aswin would have to end his tenure by the date set for the
\nceremony.<\/p>\n
"We won't change the date we set last month, hoping that the
\none month spell will be enough to wait for the presidential
\ndecree on the next governor," he said.<\/p>\n
Aswin, who is favored to extend his five-year term, won 35
\nvotes to top the list of gubernatorial candidates in a selection
\non Dec. 13 last year, followed by Machmud Akil who collected
\nseven votes and L.H. Kadir who earned three.<\/p>\n
The ceremony will be held at the newly completed legislative
\ncouncil building on Jl. A. Yani. Minister of Home Affairs Moch.
\nYogie S.M. is scheduled to install the governor. (amd)<\/p>",
