W. Java's industrial growth<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): Industrial growth in West Java slowed to 9.4
\npercent last year from 12.3 percent in 1993 due to the relocation
\nof some manufacturing plants from the province to other
\ncountries, an official said.<\/p>\n
A deputy governor of West Java, Ukman Sutaryan, told the
\nprovincial council in a hearing in Bandung on Friday that a
\nnumber of companies have relocated their plants from the province
\nto China, Thailand and Taiwan.<\/p>\n
Ukman did not specify the exact number of the companies which
\nhave relocated their industrial activities, or their reasons.<\/p>\n
He said that the growth decline was also caused by the fact
\nthat most of the industrial plants operating in the province have
\nbeen operating at full capacity, Antara reported.<\/p>\n
The government is practically curbing the growth of the
\nestablishment of new industrial plants in the province by banning
\nthe construction of new ones in Tangerang and allowing their
\ndevelopment only within industrial estates in its other
