W. Java Council jet-setters<\/p>\n
BANDUNG: Despite various financial problems, there always
\nseems to be just enough money for councillors to conduct a
\n\"comparative study\" tour abroad.<\/p>\n
The latest example is West Java council's plan for councillors
\nto visit five countries in the near future.<\/p>\n
Traveling expenses allocated from the provincial budget for
\nsuch a venture is set at Rp 1.3 billion (US$118,181).<\/p>\n
The visit, expected to be held starting the end of this month
\nuntil the end of June, will include Australia, China, Hong Kong,
\nMalaysia and the United Kingdom.<\/p>\n
Deputy council speaker Suyaman said on Thursday that the first
\ngroup of councillors, led by Speaker Eka Santosa, will visit
\nAustralia for five days, to examine cooperation opportunities.<\/p>\n
Suyaman, however, was quick to add that the Australian
\ngovernment was also forking out for the trip by paying for the
\ntickets and accommodation for two of the eight or more
\ncouncillors on the trip.<\/p>\n
The second group will go to China and Hong Kong to explore
\neconomic cooperation, and the third group will visit Malaysia to
\nconduct a comparative study on education and labor issues.<\/p>\n
The last group will visit England to learn more about
