Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Vice President Boediono has said bureaucratic reform was not just a rhetoric or discourse but was a serious thing that had to be done.<\/p>\n
"The bureaucratic reform made by the government is not just a discourse or empty words," Vice President Boediono said in his directives to the participants of a working meeting on State Financial Accountability Improvement at his office here on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
Present at the meeting were among others Home Affairs Minister Gamawan Fauzi, State Minister for Administrative Reforms EE Mangindaan, and Financial and Development Supervisory Board (BPKP) chief Mardiasmo.<\/p>\n
The main responsibility of BPKP is to conduct supervisory functions, in terms of conducting audit assignments.<\/p>\n
The audit assignments may include the audits that are planned by BPKP itself and the audits that are especially ordered by local governments, law enforcement officers, departments\/instances, state and regional-owned enterprises or lenders.<\/p>\n
In addition to the audit assignments, BPKP provides assistance services to the government in improving its management control system and governance.<\/p>\n
The assistance may include the development of performance accountability systems, the development of regional government accounting system and the implementation of good public governance and good corporate governance.<\/p>\n
On the occasion the vice president said the government did not want to utter empty words on bureaucratic reforms but wanted to implement it in a tangible manner.
\nThe vice president said the government has prepared the main design and the road map of the bureaucratic reforms.<\/p>\n
According to him, the bureaucratic reforms would be an instrument used to run an effective and clean governance.<\/p>\n
With the presence of bureaucratic reforms, the vice president said it was expected that there would no longer be a misuse of public authority by public officials in wider sense.<\/p>\n
