Volunteers and Aceh authorities<\/p>\n

Unexpectedly, there are quite a large number of people with a
\ngreat sense of humanity in Indonesia. These Indonesian volunteers
\nhave been working hard day and night in Aceh, helping the
\nAcehnese cope with problems arising after the earthquake and
\ntsunami. These volunteers have undertaken many things, from
\nsetting up emergency schools in tents to providing psychological
\nhelp to the victims.<\/p>\n
In short, most of the relief activities in Aceh are the result
\nof the initiative of Indonesian volunteers themselves. In this
\ncontext, the government, which actually should be the leader in
\nthese efforts, is still busy deciding whether the Acehnese
\nauthority, which will be set up at a later date, or the old
\nprovincial administration will be responsible for the rebuilding
\nof Aceh. The problem remains whether the leadership should come
\nfrom the central government or should be autonomously in the
\nhands of the old provincial administration.<\/p>\n
So, Indonesia is just like a newly independent state that is
\ntrying to put everything in order. Unfortunately, when the
\npersonnel change, the policies will also change.<\/p>\n
