JAKARTA \u2013 Ahead of the 79th National Cooperative Day (Harkopnas), the\ncentral leadership of the Indonesian Cooperative Council (Dekopin) made\na pilgrimage to the grave of the Proclaimer and father of Indonesian\ncooperatives, Mohammad Hatta (Bung Hatta), at Tanah Kusir Public\nCemetery in South Jakarta. The reflective event was led directly by\nDekopin\u2019s leadership as a mark of deep respect for his legacy of a\npeople-based national economy.<\/p>\n
The pilgrimage was not merely an annual ritual, but an important\nmoment for the Indonesian cooperative movement to retrace its struggle\nand strengthen its national commitment. At Bung Hatta\u2019s grave, the\nDekopin family offered prayers together and reflected once more on the\nnoble ideals of a mutual-assistance-based economy that serves as a\npillar of social justice for all Indonesians.<\/p>\n
On the occasion, Dekopin Secretary-General Gilang Widya Pramana\noffered strategic views on the future of cooperatives in the digital\nera. The man popularly known as Juragan 99 stressed that the key to the\nsustainability of a people-based economy today lies in the hands of\nGeneration Z. As a concrete step, Dekopin has launched a programme to\nfind Gen Z Dekopin Brand Ambassadors to scout for talented young\nrepresentatives across Indonesia.<\/p>\n
\u201cBung Hatta founded cooperatives with a highly advanced vision of\ntogetherness. Our task now is to translate that vision into the language\nand lifestyle of today\u2019s young people. Gen Z is highly creative,\nadaptable to technology, and has a strong sense of social concern.\nThrough this Brand Ambassador selection, we want to find a young icon\ncapable of bringing cooperatives into the digital ecosystem and\ninspiring their own generation,\u201d said Gilang.<\/p>\n
The Secretary-General further affirmed that Dekopin is fully\ncommitted to rejuvenating the image of cooperatives so they are no\nlonger seen as outdated financial institutions or merely the business of\nolder generations. Cooperatives today must transform into a primary\nbusiness platform for young entrepreneurs through technological\ninnovation.<\/p>\n
The pilgrimage was also attended by finalists of the Dekopin Gen Z\nBrand Ambassador programme, including Ridwan Sahroni. The finalist,\nactive on social media via the Instagram account @readonesahroni_31<\/span>, expressed his\npride and commitment after paying respects directly at Bung Hatta\u2019s\ngrave.<\/p>\n \u201cStanding here, at Bung Hatta\u2019s grave, made me realise that the\nmutual-assistance values within cooperatives are highly relevant to Gen\nZ\u2019s collaborative spirit today.
