Visa renewal in Bali<\/p>\n
I read the letter Pay tourists to come here by Ian Gregory
\npublished in The Jakarta Post on May 31. It looks like a good
\nidea to me. Therefore, I will mention an idea that was introduced
\nsome years ago.<\/p>\n
In the United States or Canada, if a foreigner needs to renew
\na visa, that individual does not have to exit the country. It can
\nall be done locally. It is my suggestion that the Indonesian
\ngovernment should activate such policy, and put a visa renewal or
\nextension office in Denpasar, Bali.<\/p>\n
Then foreigners could go to Bali to renew or extend their
\ntourist visa, visitors visa, work permit, etc.<\/p>\n
This way the money now spent by visa holders to travel outside
\nof Indonesia to get renewals would instead be spent locally for
\nairfares, hotels, restaurants, going to Bali for the renewals,
\ninstead of spending their money outside of Indonesia to do the
\nsame thing.<\/p>\n
The local airlines, hotels and businesses in Indonesia,
\nespecially Bali would gain the benefit of the money spent locally
\ninstead of money going overseas.<\/p>\n
