A video of a man rampaging with a sharp weapon and attacking two\npeople in front of Oosten Cafe, Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), has\ngone viral on social media. The perpetrator, later identified as Iswanto\n(22), was immediately apprehended by the police at the scene.<\/p>\n
The incident took place in front of Oosten Cafe, Jalan Frans Seda,\nWest Oesapa, Kupang, on Tuesday (16\/6) evening at approximately 7:25 PM\nWITA. Iswanto, who is known to be a recidivist involved in a previous\nmotorcycle theft case, was detained by traffic police and Kupang City\nPolice officers shortly after the event.<\/p>\n
The arrest is documented in Police Report Number:\nLP\/B\/691\/VI\/2026\/SPKT\/POLRESTA KUPANG KOTA\/POLDA NTT. The two victims,\nidentified as Rh (24) and Rizky (26), sustained injuries and were rushed\nto Kartini Hospital in Kupang.<\/p>\n
Head of Criminal Investigation at Kupang City Police, AKP Jumpatua\nSimanjorang, stated that the suspect was secured shortly after the\nassault occurred. \u201cThe suspect was secured at the crime scene by traffic\nand police duty officers who acted quickly after monitoring the\nincident. The suspect has now been handed over to the Criminal\nInvestigation Unit for further legal processing,\u201d Jumpatua said on\nWednesday (17\/6\/2026).<\/p>\n
Based on initial investigations, the suspect went to the boarding\nhouse of victim RH (24), a civil servant from Makassar, to search for\nhis girlfriend, VT, who is a colleague of the victim. However, the\nvictim claimed not to know the woman\u2019s whereabouts, which provoked the\nsuspect.<\/p>\n
\u201cBecause the victim, RH, replied that he did not know VT\u2019s\nwhereabouts, the suspect, who was under the influence of alcohol,\nimmediately choked the victim from the front. The victim managed to\nbreak free, but was choked again from behind. When the victim tried to\nrun, the suspect drew a sharp weapon and chased him,\u201d Jumpatua\nexplained.<\/p>\n
The victim, RH, managed to run and lock himself in a neighbour\u2019s room\nbefore being evacuated by residents. As a result of the incident, RH\nsuffered abrasions on his neck and scratch marks on his back.<\/p>\n
After failing to catch RH, the suspect became involved in an\naltercation with Rizky (26), a technician working at the scene. Rizky\nreprimanded the suspect and questioned him regarding a collapsed\nboarding house fence. \u201cUpon being reprimanded, the suspect became even\nmore enraged and attacked Rizky with a knife. Rizky attempted to evade\nhim and challenged the suspect to a bare-handed duel. The suspect\ninitially agreed, but as the duel was about to begin, the suspect\ninstead drew a knife hidden at his waist,\u201d Jumpatua detailed.<\/p>\n
Rizky then ran towards Oosten Cafe, but tripped and was attacked by\nthe suspect. The victim sustained three stab wounds and a laceration on\nhis left thigh, as well as abrasions on his right thigh from hitting the\nasphalt.<\/p>\n
Police officers on duty in the vicinity subsequently arrested the\nperpetrator. The police also seized a machete used in the attack.\nCurrently, the Kupang City Police Criminal Investigation Unit is\nconducting an intensive interrogation of the suspect.
