From social media photos, the monkey was seen chained to an iron bar\nnear the Margonda-Juanda traffic light in Depok. It is reported that the\nmonkey has been tied up there since late 2025, with its location in a\nbusy traffic area exposing it to extreme weather and vehicle pollution\ndaily.<\/p>\n
Tessy Haryati, Head of Operational Control at Depok City Fire and\nRescue Department (DPKP), stated her team had checked on the monkey,\nwhich was found to belong to a street performer.<\/p>\n
\u2018We have checked before; it has an owner who is a street performer,\u2019\nTessy told journalists on Sunday, 24 May 2026.<\/p>\n
She added that the street performer\u2019s whereabouts are unknown.\nAccording to local residents, the monkey belongs to a performer who\nfrequently parks at the Margonda-Juanda intersection.<\/p>\n
\u2018When we checked, the performer was not present. Information from\nnearby residents states it belongs to a performer who often stops at the\nMargonda-Juanda junction,\u2019 she said.<\/p>\n
Tessy confirmed the monkey was not evacuated as the authority for\nevacuation lies with the Wildlife Conservation Agency (BKSDA).<\/p>\n
