        "content": "<p>Minister of Finance Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa has responded to the viral\ncalls on social media urging a switch to Pertalite, following the\nincrease in the price of Pertamax to Rp 16,250 per litre. Although he\nacknowledged predicting that a partial shift of Pertamax consumers to\nPertalite would occur, Purbaya expressed confidence that not all\nPertamax consumers would genuinely make the switch. \u201cWe haven\u2019t\ncalculated it. But the thing is, certainly a certain percentage will\nmove,\u201d Purbaya stated at the House of Representatives (DPR) in Senayan,\nJakarta, on Thursday, 11 June 2026. His belief that not all Pertamax\nconsumers would immediately shift to Pertalite is based on the\nassumption that the characteristics of Pertamax consumers differ from\nthose of subsidised fuel consumers like Pertalite. Furthermore, there is\nusually a consideration regarding the vehicle engine specifications\nowned by these consumers and the compatibility of using Pertamax\ncompared to Pertalite. \u201cBut supposedly not everyone will switch (to\nPertalite). Because those who buy Pertamax know their cars are suited\nfor Pertamax,\u201d Purbaya said. Moreover, Purbaya admitted that his side\nhas not yet calculated the potential magnitude of this fuel consumption\nshift, nor its impact on the energy subsidy burden within the state\nbudget (APBN) management. Regarding projections of the percentage of\nconsumers switching from Pertamax to Pertalite, Purbaya confessed this\nhad also not been calculated by his team. He suggested asking the\nMinister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Bahlil Lahadalia, for more\ndetailed information on the matter. According to him, fuel consumption\npatterns and the management of subsidy quotas fall under the authority\nof the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources. \u201cWe have not calculated\nit yet.
