Six parties were scheduled to campaign on Wednesday,<br>\nbut it turned out that street rallies also involved supporters of<br>\nthe Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI Perjuangan), the<br>\nUnited Development Party (PPP), the National Awakening Party<br>\n(PKB) and a number of other parties.<\/p>\n<p>Civilian security volunteers of PDI Perjuangan intervened and<br>\nmanaged to prevent supporters from inciting trouble, particularly<br>\nwhen they passed the Golkar chapter office.<\/p>\n<p>In Tangerang, also in West Java, shops were closed and traffic<br>\nwas fairly sparse. The trauma of the May 1998 riots were far from<br>\nforgotten.
