        "content": "<p>Villagers launch counterrally<\/p>\n<p>TANGERANG (JP): Some 400 villagers of Babakan Asem subdistrict<br>\nstaged a rally in front of the Tangerang regency yesterday,<br>\ndemanding the regent restore M. Buang, their village head, to his<br>\nposition.<\/p>\n<p>The rally yesterday was to counter an earlier rally staged by<br>\nother villagers demanding Buang&apos;s resignation because he had<br>\nallegedly taken a one-hectare cemetery plot under his ownership,<br>\nswindled funds for development of the least-developed villages<br>\nand had more than one wife.<\/p>\n<p>Buang was temporarily suspended soon after the protest,<br>\npending results of the investigation being conducted by Tangerang<br>\nRegent Agus Djunara<\/p>\n<p>&quot;We do not agree with the accusations. We do not agree with<br>\nthe imposition of the punishment on our village head either,&quot;<br>\nSunarya, one of the villagers, said yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>The regent was quoted by his spokeswoman Ena Karlina as saying<br>\nthat an investigation into the case was currently underway.<\/p>\n<p>Ena urged the villagers to be patient as the regency was now<br>\nhandling three other similar demands for the dismissal of heads<br>\nof Cukanggalih village, Endang Suparman; Bencongan village, M.<br>\nDjana, and Cibogo village, Nurdin Marzuki.
