Village official's home wrecked<\/p>\n
BOGOR (JP): Hundreds of angry Sukamaju village residents in
\nJonggol district here have severely damaged a house belonging to
\nthe village head, who was believed to have been involved in
\ncorrupt practices.<\/p>\n
The residents threw stones at Andi Setiawan's house Thursday,
\ncausing significant damage to the house and belongings inside.<\/p>\n
No fatalities were reported during the incident.<\/p>\n
Andi and his family fled as soon as they found out that the
\nresidents were coming.<\/p>\n
Local security officers managed to calm down the residents and
\nstop them from causing further damage.<\/p>\n
The residents said they were disappointed by findings of a
\nBogor regency team which declared that the village head was clean
\nof corruption. Most residents believe otherwise.<\/p>\n
They accused Andi of corrupt practices, including shady
\ninvolvement in the construction of a butcher house, an elementary
\nschool building and a road.<\/p>\n
Regional inspector Fauzi Si'in, however, insisted that the
\nvillage head was not guilty of corruption.<\/p>\n
\"It was just an administrative mistake. The village head has
\nyet to complete some administrative requirements,\" Fauzi was
\nquoted by Antara as saying.<\/p>\n
Some residents, angry by the team's finding, immediately
\nrushed to the Jonggol district head to ask whether the findings
\ncould be changed.<\/p>\n
They later attacked Andi's house on Jl. Raya Jonggol after
\nreceiving what they felt to be unsatisfactory answers from the
\ndistrict head.<\/p>\n
The district head had earlier sent a letter to Bogor regent
\nEddy Yoso Martadipura to temporarily dismiss Andi while the
\ninvestigation was under way.<\/p>\n
The residents, who used to be supporters of Andi, often
\ncomplained to him over his alleged wrongdoings but their
\ncomplaints were apparently ignored. (jun)<\/p>",
