Village head urged to quit<\/p>\n
TANGERANG (JP): Residents of Pasir Jaya village in Jatiuwung
\ndistrict have demanded that their village head, Eddy Syamsudin,
\nquit as they believe he illegally sold a road linking their
\nvillage to others.<\/p>\n
At least 500 of their representatives went to the Tangerang
\nLegislative Council yesterday to complain about his alleged act
\nand other malfeasance, including the nepotism he reportedly
\npracticed in employing his relatives in the village office.<\/p>\n
The residents arrived at the council building by nine trucks
\nand other transportation means and were received by Poniman of
\nthe Armed Forces faction.<\/p>\n
They explained that the road in question, which stretches
\n2,800 meters, was sold by Eddy in 1994 for Rp 80 million to tire
\nmanufacturer PT Gajah Tunggal. It is not known what he did with
\nthe alleged payment.<\/p>\n
The residents later went to the Tangerang administration's
\noffice to file the same complaint. \"We will report their
\ncomplaint to the mayor. Its decision depends on him,\" said Erlam
\nRusnarlan, head of the office's law affairs section, who received
