He made the statement after hosting representatives from the\nAssociation of Indonesian Street Vendors and MSMEs (APKLI) at the\nMinistry of Cooperatives office in Jakarta on Thursday.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur discussion focused on fostering an ecosystem that supports\nstreet vendors across Indonesia to collaborate with village\ncooperatives,\u201d Juliantono said.<\/p>\n
The minister highlighted that the government would mobilize KDMPs to\nsupply essential goods to street vendors and grocery stores at more\naffordable prices while also supporting the sustainability of rural\nMSMEs.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe will promote local MSME products through outlets operated by\nvillage cooperatives,\u201d he remarked.<\/p>\n
Furthermore, Juliantono noted that the KDMP program is designed to\nfacilitate cooperatives in rural areas to partner with village-owned\nenterprises, small grocery stores, and traditional markets. The aim is\nto spur inclusive economic activities and growth for rural\nresidents.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, APKLI Chairman Ali Mahsun expressed hope that the\ndesignation of village cooperatives as hubs for rural economies would\nlead to tangible benefits for the business community.<\/p>\n
\u201cNot retailers, village cooperatives are designed as hubs serving\ngrocery stores and food vendors,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Mahsun added that the approach is expected to stimulate higher cash\nturnover within villages, thereby strengthening rural communities\u2019\ncapacity to achieve greater economic independence.<\/p>\n
In July 2025, President Prabowo Subianto simultaneously inaugurated\naround 80,000 cooperatives established under the KDMP program\nnationwide.<\/p>\n
The program has 13 objectives, including empowering rural residents,\ngenerating jobs, improving access to commodities, and curbing\ninflation.<\/p>\n
To support operations, the government in October brokered a pact\nbetween the military and state-run food company Agrinas Pangan Nusantara\nto develop facilities such as management offices, grocery outlets,\nclinics, and logistical infrastructure.<\/p>\n
Earlier this month, Minister Juliantono confirmed the government\u2019s\ntarget of completing facility construction for all 80,000 KDMPs by the\nend of this year. Development for about 20,000 is already underway.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe can expect to see 20,000 cooperatives fully established by May,\u201d\nhe told the media in Jakarta on February 18, noting that about 1,000\ncooperatives had already concluded construction.<\/p>\n
