The physical construction of Kelok 23, which connects Girijati,\nPurwosari, Gunungkidul with Kretek, Bantul, has been completed. The\nsection, part of the Southern Cross Road (JJLS), will become operational\nat the earliest in September 2026.<\/p>\n
\u201cAlhamdulillah, as was just presented, the construction target has\nbeen completed,\u201d said Gunungkidul Regent Endah Subekti Kuntariningsih to\njournalists at Kelok 23, Girijati, Purwosari, Gunungkidul, on Friday\n(28\/8\/2026).<\/p>\n
Endah continued that construction of Kelok 23 began in August 2023,\ncovering a distance of approximately five kilometres. Of that total, 1.9\nkm falls within Gunungkidul Regency.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur hope is that this will break up congestion heading towards\nGunungkidul Regency. In addition, it will make it easier for tourists,\nespecially those coming to the South Coast, to gain easier, faster and\nsafer access,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
In detail, Endah revealed that there are three points along Kelok 23\nthat will serve as viewing posts, given that Kelok 23 is situated in the\nhills facing the South Coast area.<\/p>\n
\u201cOf those three locations, two still belong to the Bantul Regency\nGovernment, while the final viewing post is located on land owned by two\nregencies, namely Bantul and Gunungkidul,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
The final viewing post, which falls within both Gunungkidul and\nBantul, will feature a rest area. In addition, there will be several\noutlets for micro, small and medium enterprise (UMKM) operators.<\/p>\n
\u201cLater, it will be up to us and the Bantul Government to work out the\ncooperation, given that the land is part of two regencies and will be\nthe site of the rest area,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
Field Coordinator of the Commitment Making Officer (PPK) 1.2 of the\nYogyakarta Special Region (DIY) Work Unit, Sukiswandi, added that the\nphysical work has indeed been fully completed. However, Kelok 23 cannot\nyet be operational this month.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe physical work is already 100 percent complete, but it will be\nput into operation, God willing, in September or October this year,\u201d he\nsaid.<\/p>\n
Regarding the plan for the opening ceremony of Kelok 23, Sukiswandi\nsaid he is still awaiting further coordination with the Ministry of\nPublic Works.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe just need to hold the inauguration, whether virtually or in\nperson.
