        "content": "<p>Hanoi (ANTARA) - Vietnam will impose fines on individuals who create\nor disseminate false, inaccurate, distorted, or defamatory information\non social media that harms the reputation of institutions and\norganisations or the honour and dignity of individuals, local newspaper\nNhan Dan reported on Tuesday (30\/6).<\/p>\n<p>The fines range from 20 million to 30 million Vietnamese dong\n(approximately 794 to 1,190 US dollars).<\/p>\n<p>The report stated that the same fine range will also apply to various\nviolations, such as sharing explicit images depicting murder, violence,\naccidents, or other disturbing scenes; disseminating copyrighted\njournalistic, literary, or artistic works without permission; promoting\nprohibited goods or services; uploading maps of Vietnam that do not\naccurately reflect the country\u2019s sovereignty; and sharing links to\nonline content banned under Vietnamese law.<\/p>\n<p>Under the new regulations, fines ranging from 30 million to 50\nmillion dong will be imposed for spreading content that distorts\nhistory, denies revolutionary achievements, undermines national unity,\ninsults religion, or incites gender or racial discrimination, provided\nsuch acts do not meet the threshold for criminal prosecution.<\/p>\n<p>The report added that the same fine range also applies to acts of\nleaking state secrets, personal privacy, or other confidential\ninformation that do not yet meet the threshold for criminal liability,\nas well as spreading false information that causes public panic,\ndisrupts social and economic activities, hinders the operations of state\nagencies or public officials, or violates the lawful rights and\ninterests of organisations and individuals.<\/p>\n<p>These policies are set out in a government decree that takes effect\non 1 July 2026.<\/p>",
