Vietnam seeks seized boats<\/p>\n
HANOI (Reuters): A province of central Vietnam is seeking the
\nreturn of more than 200 fishermen and 17 fishing boats seized by
\nforeign vessels around the disputed Spratly and Paracel Islands,
\nVietnam's official media reported on Saturday.<\/p>\n
The Thanh Nien (Young People) newspaper quoted authorities in
\nQuang Ngai province as saying the Vietnamese vessels and
\nfishermen had been seized by \"foreign boats\" but did not identify
\nwhich country those boats came from or give any timeframe.<\/p>\n
It said the province had proposed that the government and
\nForeign Ministry intervene to resolve the issue.<\/p>\n
The report said the Vietnamese trawlers and fishermen came
\nfrom Ly Son Island off Quang Ngai and had been fishing around the
\nSpratly and Paracel archipelagos, which are also claimed by
\nVietnam's giant northern neighbor China.<\/p>",
