The case of alleged corruption involving videographer Amsal Christy\nSitepu has drawn significant attention. Amsal Sitepu is being prosecuted\nfor two years in prison for allegedly marking up the production of\nvillage profile videos in Karo Regency for the 2020-2022 fiscal years,\namounting to Rp202,161,980.<\/p>\n
In this case, Amsal is the sole defendant. During the prosecution\nhearing at the Medan District Court, Prosecutor Wira Arizona stated that\nAmsal was proven to have inflated the budget (markup) in the project to\nproduce village profile videos in Karo Regency for the fiscal years 2020\nto 2022.<\/p>\n
The prosecutor requested that the panel of judges impose a prison\nsentence of two years on Amsal. In addition to the prison term, the\ndefendant is also demanded to pay a fine of Rp50 million, subsidiary\nthree months\u2019 imprisonment. Furthermore, Amsal is burdened with repaying\nthe state losses amounting to Rp202,161,980. If not paid, it will be\nreplaced with one year of imprisonment.<\/p>\n
The case of videographer Amsal Sitepu, accused of markup or budget\ninflation in the production of village profile videos, has also\nattracted attention from DPR Commission III. The commission has even\nscheduled a public opinion hearing (RDPU) regarding the case.<\/p>\n
It is known that in the indictment, Amsal, who also serves as\nDirector of CV Promiseland, carried out the project to produce village\nprofile videos in Karo Regency. The programme was funded from village\nfunds.<\/p>\n
Twenty villages spread across four sub-districts were produced with\nprofile videos, including Tiganderket Sub-district (Perbaji Village),\nTiga Binanga Sub-district (Perbesi Village), Tigapanah Sub-district\n(Ajibuhara, Salit, Kutakepar, Seberaya, Mulawari, Tigapanah, Bertah,\nManukmulia, Singa, Kutabale, Suka Pilihen Villages). Then Namanteran\nSub-district (Sukatepu, Kuta Tonggal, Sukandebi, Kebayaken, Kutambelin,\nKuta Gugung, Sigarang Garang Villages).<\/p>\n
However, the prosecutor assessed that the proposal submitted by Amsal\nto the village heads was not properly prepared and tended to be marked\nup. In addition, the implementation of the work was deemed not in\naccordance with the Bill of Quantities (RAB). Because each video project\nwas set at a cost of Rp30 million per village.<\/p>\n
The prosecutor emphasised that in the procurement of goods and\nservices, efforts must be made using minimum funds and capabilities to\nachieve quality and targets within the specified time or using the\nallocated funds to achieve results and targets with maximum quality.<\/p>\n
Therefore, defendant Amsal is deemed to have enriched himself by\nRp202,161,980, which constitutes state losses based on the audit by the\nKaro Regency Inspectorate.<\/p>\n
The prosecutor assessed that defendant Amsal is legally and\nconvincingly guilty of committing the criminal act of corruption\nviolating Article 3 in conjunction with Article 18 of Law No.\u00a031 of 1999\non the Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption as amended by Law\nNo.\u00a020 of 2001.<\/p>\n
The hearing with the agenda of reading the verdict is scheduled for\nWednesday, 1 April 2026.<\/p>\n
Amsal has denied carrying out budget markup in the project he\nundertook. As a creative worker, he claims he has no authority to\ninflate the budget.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur country is not doing well, sir. I am just a creative economy\nworker. I am a professional videographer, I am charged with budget\nmarkup. How can a service provider markup the budget?\u201d said Amsal as\nseen from the TikTok account of Amsal and Lovia, Sunday (29\/3).<\/p>\n
DPR Commission III is scheduled to hold an audience to discuss the\ncase on Monday (30\/3). Chairman of Commission III DPR, Habiburokhman,\nconsiders the case ensnaring Amsal to be odd.<\/p>\n
As a creative worker who does not have a certain fee limit, Amsal,\naccording to Habib, is instead accused of inflating the village profile\nproduction project in Karo Regency.<\/p>\n
