        "content": "<p>Video: Heavy Rain and Trash Worsen Severe Flooding in Jabodetabek,\nWhat Is the Solution?<\/p>\n<p>Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - The Government of Indonesia, through the\nMinistry of Public Works, is accelerating the construction of the\nCiliwung River dike system to bolster flood control in the Jabodetabek\narea, particularly where the risk of overflow is high.<\/p>\n<p>Head of the Ciliwung-Cisadane River Basin Organization (BBWS) of the\nMinistry of Public Works, David Marpaung, said that of the 33.69 km of\ndikes to be built, only 17.14 km has been completed, leaving 16 km.<\/p>\n<p>The dike work must be completed because when river discharge\nincreases and exceeds the river\u2019s carrying capacity, the flood threat\nrises. In addition, BBWS Ciliwung-Cisadane is also carrying out several\nmitigation measures through the Ciliwung diversion (sodetan) operations\nand other infrastructure to reduce the duration of inundation and\nflooding.<\/p>\n<p>A number of sedimentation problems in the river, causing narrowing\nand piling up, have become another issue that worsens Jabodetabek\nfloods.
