A minibus drove against the flow of traffic and collided with several\nvehicles on Jalan Gunung Sahari, Sawah Besar, Central Jakarta, on\nWednesday (25\/2). The minibus was damaged by an angry mob.<\/p>\n
The incident began when a black car with license plate D-1640-AHB,\ndriven by Hafiz Mahendra, was travelling from north to south on Jalan\nGunung Sahari.<\/p>\n
\u201cUpon arriving near the Lapangan Banteng bus stop, the vehicle\ncontinued to move south on Jalan Gunung Sahari, even though officers\nwere trying to stop it,\u201d said Central Jakarta Police Chief, Commissioner\nReynold Hutagalung, in a statement.<\/p>\n
Upon arriving in front of Jalan Gunung Sahari IV, the car turned left\nonto Jalan Gunung Sahari IV and continued to Jalan Bungur Besar Raya.\nAfter that, the car turned left on Jalan Bungur Besar Raya, heading\nnorth.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd upon arriving at Jalan Gunung Sahari V, the vehicle turned left,\ndriving against the flow of traffic on Jalan Gunung Sahari V, heading\neast towards the four-way intersection of TL MBAL, and continued on\nJalan DR Sutomo, heading east,\u201d Reynold said.<\/p>\n
Upon arriving near the Bintang Baru Hotel, the vehicle turned around,\nheading west, and returned to the TL MBAL intersection. Then, the\nvehicle turned left onto Jalan Gunung Sahari, heading north, until it\nreached the four-way intersection of TL Pintu Besi.\u201d(Then) the vehicle\nturned around, driving against the flow of traffic on Jalan Gunung\nSahari, heading south, until it stopped near the Golden Truly bus stop,\nwhere it was attacked by an angry mob of road users,\u201d Reynold said.<\/p>\n
After being stopped, the driver and the vehicle were immediately\ntaken to the Central Jakarta Police for further investigation.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe investigation is still ongoing,\u201d said Reynold.<\/p>\n
The incident was recorded in a video and went viral on social media.\nOne of them was uploaded to the Instagram account @jakarta.terkini<\/span>.<\/p>\n In the uploaded video, the car can be seen driving against the flow\nof traffic in the middle of a fairly heavy traffic flow. A police\nofficer can also be seen trying to stop the vehicle.<\/p>\n In the video, the police officer appears to be firing a pistol into\nthe air as a warning for the car to stop.<\/p>\n However, instead of stopping, the car driver continued to accelerate,\nhitting several other vehicles, from motorcycles to cars.<\/p>\n The driver\u2019s actions provoked the anger of local residents. Residents\ncan be seen chasing the car while hitting it with helmets.<\/p>\n \u201cA car became the target of an angry mob in the Pasar Baru Timur\narea, Central Jakarta,\u201d the post read.<\/p>\n (dis\/ugo)<\/p>",
