        "content": "<p>The Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) has recorded an\nincrease in the number of applications for protection in cases of the\ncriminal act of human trafficking (TPPO) since 2024. Based on region of\norigin, the highest number of applicants came from West Java.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHuman trafficking is a phenomenon that has always been a concern for\nthe international community and for us, because the numbers continue to\nrise. In LPSK records from 2024 to 2026, applications to LPSK have\ncontinued to increase,\u201d said LPSK Deputy Chair Antonius PS Wibowo to\nreporters on Thursday (29\/7\/2026).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRegarding applications for protection to LPSK, in 2024 we recorded\n576, then in 2025 there were 554, and in 2026 up to May there have been\naround 132. This data is only up to May 2026,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Antonius made these remarks during a national discussion\ncommemorating World Anti-Trafficking Day at the LPSK building. He noted\nthat the number of TPPO protection applications to LPSK is fluctuating\nand is predicted to continue rising.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe number of TPPO protection applications to LPSK is fluctuating,\nmeaning that currently in 2026 it is still below 150, but it is possible\nthat in August, September, or October it could increase sharply,\u201d he\nsaid.<\/p>\n<p>Based on the applicants\u2019 regions of origin, Antonius stated that West\nJava dominated, followed by East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), East Java, and\nCentral Java.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe recorded that the highest region of origin is still held by West\nJava Province. The second is from NTT, East Nusa Tenggara Province. Then\nthe third is East Java and Central Java,\u201d Antonius said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOf course, this is data received by LPSK, and this data may differ\nfrom data on TPPO victims or protection held by other ministries or\nagencies,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Antonius mentioned three LPSK service or protection programmes that\nconsistently dominate the needs of TPPO victims.
