Veteran Yustedjo Tarik out, seeds go through<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): Former national men's singles champion Yustedjo
\nTarik bowed out to junior Surya Wijaya 3-6, 6-1, 0-6 in the
\nsecond round of the 2001 Cigna Open Colors of Life at the Bung
\nKarno tennis complex in Senayan, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
On Thursday's quarterfinals, sixth seed Surya will face third
\nseed Edy Kusdaryanto, who beat Yustedjo's trainee Imanuel Prabowo
\n6-2, 6-3 in the tournament which offers prize money of Rp 50
\nmillion (US$5,263).<\/p>\n
Other seeded players continued to overpower their juniors. Top
\nseed Andrian Raturandang beat Samsudin Pare 6-2, 6-3 to set up an
\nencounter with eighth seed Dede Suhendardinata, who beat Cuk
\nPrihatmanto 6-0, 6-1.<\/p>\n
Fifth seed Sebastian Da Costa ousted Irwan Radjab to challenge
\nYusmawan Fahmi on Thursday. Yusmawan had no difficulties in
\novercoming qualifier Sunu Wahyu Trijati 6-2, 6-0.<\/p>\n
The other quarters will pit Prima Simpatiaji against Febi
\nWidhiyanto.<\/p>\n
Seventh seed Prima beat qualifier Djanuar Radjab 6-4, 6-3
\nwhile Febi outclassed Tjahjono 6-3, 6-2.<\/p>\n
Women's singles seeds also continued their winning grip. Top
\nseed Wukirasih Sawondari was no match for wild card entry Lenny
\nKomalasari and crushed the latter 6-1, 6-1. Wukirasih will face
\nthe junior eighth seed Novianti Warsono, who beat Linda Arumsari
\n6-2, 6-2.<\/p>\n
Veteran Eny Sulistyowati beat Margaretha Novianti 6-1, 6-2 to
\nmeet junior Dewi Monica Siregar. Dewi, seeded six, beat Gemma
\nYoselyn 6-0, 6-2.<\/p>\n
Fourth seed Angelique Widjaja will meet fifth seed Dea
\nSumantri. Angelique did not give a chance to Meritus Fitria Gani
\nand crushed her 6-1, 6-0 while Dea outclassed Uce Verianti 6-3,
\n6-2.<\/p>\n
In other quarterfinals, senior Liza Andriyani will meet the
\nonly qualifier Dian Anggraini. Liza beat Ida Sutedja 6-4, 6-3
\nwhile Dian thrashed Sian Arie Staria 6-1, 6-1.<\/p>\n
In the women's doubles, Angelique and Dea beat Agustine
\nLimanto and Wukirasih 6-3, 6-2 to challenge veteran Irawati
\nMoerid Iskandar and Luky Tedjamukti. Irawati and Luky had a
\nrelatively easy win over Rachmawati Siregar and Uce Verianti
\nbecause the latter retired when losing 0-3 in the first set.<\/p>\n
Dewi and Ida will meet Eny and Liza in the other semifinals.
\nDewi and Ida beat Bayunita Tampubolon and Mega Margaretha 6-4, 6-
\n1 while Eny and Liza blanked Meritus and Realian Krido 6-0, 6-0.<\/p>\n
The men's doubles have just finished their first round
\nmatches. Top seeded pair Andrian and Febi beat Ferza Gautama and
\nPrima 6-2, 6-4 to meet qualifiers Andery and Fandi Suyadi, who
\nbeat Al Imron and Donny Romy 6-4, 7-5.<\/p>\n
Yustedjo was also ousted from this event. Partnering Tjahjono,
\nthey lost to Sebastian and Dede 3-6, 4-6. The latter will meet
\nArianwan Poebo and Djanuar Radjab, who beat wild card pair Aditya
