Veteran players continue winning ways at Cigna Open<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): Indonesia's veteran tennis players continued to
\ndominate at the 2001 Cigna Open Colors of Life tournament at the
\nBung Karno tennis complex.<\/p>\n
Second seed Febi Widhiyanto defeated junior Prima Simpatiaji
\n6-3, 6-3 on Thursday, and will face Yusmawan Fahmi in Friday's
\nsemifinals. Yusmawan ousted fellow veteran Sebastian Da Costa 6-
\n1, 6-4 to advance.<\/p>\n
\"I don't have any special strategy for my next match against
\nYusmawan,\" Febi said after the match.<\/p>\n
Veteran Suhendar Dinata scored the biggest upset of the day by
\ntoppling top seed Andrian Raturandang 6-3, 6-1. Suhendar set up a
\nsemifinals clash with Surya Wijaya, who outclassed Edy
\nKusdaryanto 6-3, 6-4.<\/p>\n
In the women's singles, youngster Angelique Widjaja will
\nchallenge veteran player Liza Andriyani on Friday.<\/p>\n
Angelique, or Angie, showed her talent in defeating teammate
\nand rival Dea Sumantri 7-5, 6-4.<\/p>\n
While Liza found no trouble overcoming qualifier Dian
\nAnggraini 6-3, 6-3.<\/p>\n
Top seed Wukirasih Sawondari barely broke a sweat in
\neliminating junior Novianti Warsono 6-1, 6-1. Wukirasih will next
\nface veteran Eny Sulistyowati, who overpowered young player Dewi
\nMonica Siregar 6-3, 6-0.<\/p>\n
Angie and doubles partner Dea will face Eny and Liza in the
\nwomen's doubles final on Friday.<\/p>\n
Angie and Dea beat veteran Irawati Moerid Iskandar and Luky
\nTedjamukti 6-4, 6-4 on Thursday evening in a match that was
\ndelayed by heavy rain.<\/p>\n
In the other quarterfinals, Eny and Liza had an easy 6-0, 3-1
\nwin over Dewi and Ida Sutedja. Dewi retired in the second set
\nwith an injury.<\/p>\n
In the men's doubles, Febi and Andrian beat qualifier Andery
\nSetyawanto and Fandi Suyadi 6-3, 6-3 to set up a semifinal match
\nagainst Surya and Yusmawan. Surya and Yusmawan beat Cuk
\nPrihatmanto and Danang Tri Hermawan 6-1, 6-3.<\/p>\n
The other semifinals match will pit Sebastian and Suhendar
\nagainst Edy and Ferdi Fauzi.<\/p>\n
Sebastian and Suhendar lost one set before ousting Ariawan
\nPoebo and Djanuar Radjab 6-2, 4-6, 6-1. While Edy and Ferdi had
\nto work hard to defeat Eko Kurniawan and Nesa Artha 6-4, 6-7, 6-
