A military court has scheduled the verdict for the case involving the alleged acid attack on KontraS Vice Coordinator Andrie Yunus. Four Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) personnel face prison sentences following accusations of premeditated assault.

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The reading of the judges’ verdict regarding the
alleged assault on the Vice Coordinator of KontraS, Andram Yunus, which
involves four members of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) as
defendants, will be held on Wednesday, 10 June.

Presiding Judge Colonel Fredy Ferdian Isnartanto stated that the
schedule was agreed upon following the reading of the indictment, which
will be followed by the plea (defence note), replication (response to
the defence), and rejoinder (response to the replication).

“It was agreed yesterday that the verdict hearing will be held on 10
June 2026, and the plea hearing will take place tomorrow, 4 June 2026,”
the Presiding Judge stated during the indictment reading at the Military
Court II-08 Jakarta on Wednesday.

The four defendants are Sergeant Edi Sudarko, First Lieutenant Budhi
Hariyanto Widhi, Captain Nandala Dwi Prasetya, and Lieutenant Sami
Lakka.

The Presiding Judge noted that defences may be presented individually
by each defendant alongside their legal counsel.

Regarding the case, the four TNI personnel have been sentenced to a
prison term of two years and six months (2.5 years) each. The Military
Prosecutor believes the defendants are proven guilty of committing a
criminal offence, specifically participating in premeditated assault
resulting in serious injury.

In this case, the four TNI personnel are accused of splashing acid on
Andrie with the intention of providing a ‘lesson’ and a ‘deterrent
effect’ to prevent him from disparaging the TNI institution.

The defendants’ grievances stemmed from Andrie’s actions, which they
perceived as insulting the TNI institution. This includes an incident on
16 March 2025, when the activist from the Commission for the Disappeared
and Victims of Violence (KontraS) forcibly entered and interrupted a
meeting regarding the revision of the TNI Law in Jakarta.

Other factors that angered the defendants included Andrie’s lawsuit
against the TNI Law in the Constitutional Court, his allegations that
the TNI intimidated or terrorised the KontraS office, his claims that
the TNI was behind the riots in late August 2025, and his active
promotion of anti-militarism narratives.

Consequently, the actions of the TNI personnel, who allegedly planned
the acid attack on Andrie knowing the chemical liquid could cause severe
burns, were deemed inappropriate for members of the TNI. For their
actions, the four defendants face criminal penalties under Article 469
paragraph (1), or Article 468 paragraph (1), or Article 467 paragraph
(1) in conjunction with paragraph (2) of Article 20 letter C of the
National Criminal Code (KUHP).
",
