        "content": "<p>Ver has a right to come home<\/p>\n<p>MANILA (AFP): Imelda Marcos said yesterday she was glad<br>\nPresident Fidel Ramos has softened the government&apos;s stand on the<br>\nreturn of her late husband&apos;s military chief, former general<br>\nFabian Ver.<\/p>\n<p>Ver, who was known for his fierce loyalty to his boyhood<br>\nfriend Ferdinand Marcos, has been indicted for the 1983<br>\nassassination of Marcos&apos; chief political rival Benigno Aquino on<br>\nhis return from self-exile in the United States.<\/p>\n<p>Ver, who fled the country with the Marcoses, was excluded from<br>\nthe criminal trial because he was abroad, but 16 soldiers were<br>\nsentenced to life terms for the Benigno Aquino killing.<\/p>\n<p>Although the former general&apos;s whereabouts have not been<br>\ndivulged, some news reports said he has been seen in a southeast<br>\nAsian country.<\/p>",
