        "content": "<p>Vendors reject town square, ITC<\/p>\n<p>DEPOK: The vendors at traditional markets in Depok complained<br>\non Thursday about the ongoing construction of Depok Town Square<br>\nand ITC shopping centers as they feared the new facilities will<br>\nkill their businesses.<\/p>\n<p>\"We want the next elected Depok mayor to side with us and<br>\ndecline to inaugurate the shopping centers,\" said Syafrizal,<br>\nchairman of the Association of Indonesia Market Traders in Depok.<\/p>\n<p>Otherwise, other traders said, they would stage protests<br>\nagainst the shopping centers.<\/p>\n<p>The traders said the shopping centers will each have a<br>\nhypermarket.<\/p>\n<p>According to Syafrizal, the presence of the hypermarkets will<br>\nkill Kemiri Muka traditional market, which is located in between<br>\nthe two shopping centers.<\/p>\n<p>\"The vendors there have suffered due to the presence of street<br>\nvendors just outside the market building ... 25 percent of the<br>\nregistered vendors have closed their businesses,\" he added.<\/p>\n<p>Head of Depok Market Agency, Tutun Sofyan, acknowledged that<br>\nthe administration was in a dilemma.<\/p>\n<p>\"We try to be fair to everyone ... we cannot reject<br>\ninvestment.
