The popular opinion among scholars and Muslims is that Prophet\nMuhammad (peace be upon him) was born on Monday, 12 Rabiul Awal.\nHowever, some scholars hold that he was born on the eighth of the same\nmonth, while others say the tenth. Yet another view places his birth on\nthe night of the twelfth.<\/p>\n
Az Zubair bin Bakar stated, \u201cProphet Muhammad was born in the month\nof Ramadan.\u201d However, this opinion is considered anomalous (shadhdh).\nThis was related by As Suhaili in his Ar-Raudh. Regarding the year of\nthe Prophet\u2019s birth, the great event took place in the Year of the\nElephant, precisely 50 days after the event.<\/p>\n
Some say it was 58 days after, while others say ten years after.\nAnother opinion states it was 30 years after the event of the Elephant\narmy, and yet another says 40 years after.<\/p>\n
The correct view is that Prophet Muhammad was born in the Year of the\nElephant itself. This opinion was related by Ibrahim bin Al-Mundzir Al\nKhuzami, the teacher of Imam Al Bukhari, and Khalifah bin Khayyath as\nwell as other scholars by consensus.<\/p>\n

Prophet Muhammad was nursed among the Bani Sa\u2019ad tribe. His wet nurse\nwas named Halimah As Sa\u2019diyyah, as narrated with an authentic chain of\ntransmission.
