        "content": "<p>Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) has served as the host for the 5th\nmeeting of the Indonesia-Malaysia-Thailand Growth Triangle (IMT-GT)\nuniversity leaders, aimed at strengthening cooperation in higher\neducation, research, innovation, and community service.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking in Medan on Friday, the Vice Rector for Research,\nInnovation, and Partnership at USU, Prof.\u00a0Himsar Ambarita, stated that\nthis meeting serves as a vital momentum for determining the direction of\ncollaboration in the upcoming period, while simultaneously strengthening\nthe contribution of higher education institutions to the development of\nthe IMT-GT region. The meeting involved evaluating the implementation of\nthe UNINET Strategic Action Plan 2022\u20132026 and preparing new directions\nfor regional academic cooperation for the subsequent period.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis forum can produce not only good recommendations but also\nvisionary new ideas, stronger collaborations, more impactful\ninnovations, and a shared commitment to continuously improving the\nquality of education, research, innovation, sustainability, and human\nresource development in our region,\u201d he said. He added that the\ndiversity present within the IMT-GT member nations is a strength that\nmust be optimised through inter-institutional collaboration.<\/p>\n<p>During the same event, the Vice Chancellor of Universiti Teknologi\nMARA (UiTM) Malaysia, Prof.\u00a0Datuk Shahrable bin Sahib, noted that the\nforum discussed various proposals for new projects and future\nactivities. The meeting also received updates regarding the formulation\nof the Strategic Action Plan 2027\u20132031 and reviewed various programme\nproposals that will form part of the IMT-GT UNINET strategic development\nplan for the next period.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe progress achieved over the past year reflects the dedication of\nall member institutions in translating our shared vision into concrete\nactions that provide benefits,\u201d he said, highlighting initiatives such\nas digital transformation, collaborative micro-credential development,\nand other strategic programmes supporting sustainable regional\ndevelopment.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, the Director of the Centre for the\nIndonesia\u2013Malaysia\u2013Thailand Growth Triangle (IMT-GT), Amri Bukhairi\nBakhtiar, emphasised the importance of the role of universities as a\nbridge between research findings and policy formulation. He noted the\nneed to connect students and researchers with the industrial world,\ntranslating academic expertise into practical solutions for society, and\naligning national priorities with sub-regional cooperation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA platform that supports applied research, collaboration between\nuniversities and industry, innovation, talent development, and\nevidence-based policy formulation is in line with the direction of the\nnew vision blueprint,\u201d he concluded.<\/p>",
