Use of SEA Games funds<\/p>\n

The community has so far received no response from the SEA
\nGames consortium nor from the central board of the Indonesian
\nOlympic Committee regarding specific expenditure allocations of
\nthe funds collected for the 19th SEA Games.<\/p>\n
This needs clarifying because most of the funds have come from
\nthe community in the form of compulsory contributions. The
\ncommunity therefore has a very strong reason to know how the
\nmoney is being spent.<\/p>\n
We do not want a report like the one made by the consortium's
\nday-to-day chairman Bambang Yoga Soegama as quoted by Sinar Pagi
\non Sept. 24. He said that the funds received until then amounted
\nto Rp 40.175 billion.<\/p>\n
I think that was not a report but only a statement that is
\ntrue or false.<\/p>\n
I apologize for asking the question, but my purpose is to
\nprevent collusion in the use of SEA Games funds as was the case
\nwith the latest national games. Therefore, the community should
\nreceive a report on the SEA Games funds.<\/p>\n
What we need is openness in the handling of these funds.<\/p>\n
One thing that needs explaining is the extension of the period
\nfor the collection of SEA Games funds. I certainly disagreed with
\nthis extension because it was a burden on the community. There
\nwas also fear that counterfeit stickers may have been used in the
\ncontext of fund collection.<\/p>\n
I again appeal to the consortium to provide the necessary
\ninformation. They should not leave the community, who were
\ncontributors of the funds, waiting in vain for explanations.<\/p>\n
