Jakarta city buses are always overcrowded. This is accepted as
\nan ordinary daily phenomenon by commuters, as long as they can
\nget to their place of work on time. The condition is worsened by
\ncigarette smoke puffed out by bus passengers. Not to mention
\nemissions from the exhausts from cars, which contains lead.
\nAccumulated lead is said to be detrimental to the nerves of the
\nbrain and make people become easily emotional.<\/p>\n
My question is \"why doesn't the Jakarta Administration do
\nanything significant to improve the transportation condition?\" A
\nminister of the present cabinet once said that the reason why the
\nbus company has to take as many passengers as possible is that
\nthe bus fair is too low. Besides, private cars, which keep
\nincreasing, contribute to traffic congestion in Jakarta.
\nTherefore, underground trains are thought to be the best
\nalternative.<\/p>\n
In the meantime, some people opine that the use of gasoline is
\none of the components which has caused the high operational cost
\nof public buses. Then why don't we use gas fuel instead, which is
\nmore economical than gasoline and at the same time causes less
\npollution. Some taxis have used this kind of fuel. If this
\nexperiment succeeds, the use of gas can be extended to other
\nvehicles and private cars. And the Department of Industries can
\ndirect the automotive industries to produce cars which will be
\nfueled by gas.<\/p>\n
