        "content": "<p>US$178m graft case trial delayed<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA: The South Jakarta District Court failed Monday to<br>\nbegin the US$178 million corruption trial of a state-owned<br>\nfinancial company chairman.<\/p>\n<p>Lawyers Amir Syamsuddin and M. Assegaf asked the court to<br>\npostpone the trial of defendant Sudjiono Timan, chairman of PT<br>\nBahana Pembangunan Usaha Indonesia, for medical reasons.<\/p>\n<p>They handed a report from his doctors to the panel of judges,<br>\nexplaining that Timan was in poor health due to kidney problems.<\/p>\n<p>Presiding judge IDG. Putra Jadnya approved the request, and<br>\nadjourned the trial until Jan. 3, 2002.<\/p>\n<p>Timan was charged with abusing his power by disbursing the<br>\nmoney to a company that belonged to tycoon Prajogo Pangestu,<br>\nwithout following proper procedures.<\/p>\n<p>Currently, Timan is currently under house arrest.
