U.S. to include Jemaah islamiyah on list<\/p>\n
PHILIPPINES: Washington plans to include a regional Muslim
\nmilitant group on its list of foreign terrorist organizations and
\nmay seek the backing of the 10-member Association of Southeast
\nAsian Nations, a Philippine official said on Thursday.<\/p>\n
Philippine Foreign Secretary Blas Ople will discuss the
\ninclusion of the Jemaah Islamiyah, a group that has been accused
\nof plotting attacks on U.S. and other Western targets in
\nSingapore, with Malaysian officials when he visits Kuala Lumpur
\nover the weekend, Foreign Undersecretary Lauro Baja said.<\/p>\n
"I think the U.S. request will go one step further and ask for
\nASEAN endorsement in accordance with the (memorandum of
\nunderstanding) between the ASEAN and the U.S. signed in Brunei,"
\nBaja said.<\/p>\n
The United States and ASEAN countries signed early this month
\nan anti-terrorism cooperation agreement, one of the most
\nextensive security arrangements between Washington and its allies

MALAYSIA: A 3-year-old Singaporean boy found at a bus stop in
\nMalaysia with his birth certificate and a wad of cash was
\napparently abandoned by his parents, police said on Thursday.<\/p>\n
The toddler was sitting at the stop outside police
\nheadquarters in the southern state of Johor when officers found
\nhim before dawn on Wednesday clutching his birth certificate and
\nwearing a waist pouch with 2,000 ringgit (US$526) stuffed inside,
\nspokesman Zainal Rashid said.<\/p>\n
According to the certificate, the boy is a Singaporean citizen
\nnamed Yeo Ming Hong, Zainal said.<\/p>\n
The boy seemed unafraid and told officers: "Waiting for Mummy.
\nMummy shopping. Mummy will buy food," The Star newspaper reported

SINGAPORE: Singapore's High Court has ruled that journalists do
\nnot have the right to protect confidential sources, a local
\nnewspaper reported on Thursday.<\/p>\n
The Straits Times reported that Judge Choo Han Teck of the
\nhigh court ruled last month that newspaper journalists are not
\nexempt from the court's power to order the disclosure of
\ninformation in civil cases.<\/p>\n
Only lawyers and their clients are exempt from disclosure
\nrequirements, the paper quoted Choo as saying.<\/p>\n
Choo's ruling was made in a case involving a dispute between
\nlocally listed door manufacturer KLW Holdings and government-
\nlinked publishing conglomerate Singapore Press Holdings, the
\npaper said.<\/p>\n
Singapore Press Holdings' paper, the Business Times, published
\nan article about KLW in February which the door maker thought was
