        "content": "<p>U.S. team treats 190 in Myanmar<\/p>\n<p>YANGON (DPA): A team of five surgeons from Stanford University<br>\nMedical Center in the United States have treated 242 ear, nose<br>\nand throat patients at Myanmar hospitals this month, news reports<br>\nsaid yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>The team gave checkups to 190 patients at five government<br>\nhospitals in Yangon, Mandalay and Pyinoolwin and operated on 52<br>\npeople during the surgeons' stay in Myanmar from Sept. 14 to<br>\nSept. 17, the New Light of Myanmar newspaper said.<\/p>\n<p>The surgeons from the California-based university hospital<br>\nalso gave lectures on advanced treatment of ear, nose and throat<br>\ndiseases to their Myanmar counterparts.<\/p>\n<p>Although the U.S. government banned private investment in<br>\nMyanmar last April, there is no prohibition against private<br>\nhumanitarian aid. Myanmar's military regime has become<br>\nincreasingly receptive to such help.<\/p>",
