        "content": "<p>Washington (ANTARA) - The Supreme Court of the United States (US) has\nblocked the implementation of new requirements concerning postal voting\npreviously established by the US government, according to a court ruling\nissued on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>The new requirements stipulated that voter lists be submitted to the\nUS Postal Service, which would then be tasked with verifying recipients\u2019\naddresses based on those lists before sending out ballots.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, the new rules also set provisions regarding envelope\nformats.<\/p>\n<p>Previously, the US Postal Service did not have such\nresponsibilities.<\/p>\n<p>In its ruling, the Supreme Court stated that it would keep in place\nthe lower court\u2019s decision suspending the implementation of the\nrules.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe government is unlikely to succeed on the merits of its challenge\nto the District Court\u2019s initial order,\u201d the ruling read.<\/p>\n<p>The lower court had previously ruled that the US Postal Service\nlacked the authority to refuse to send ballots if state authorities\nfailed to meet the new requirements regarding voter registration and the\npreparation of ballots for dispatch.<\/p>",
