"summary": "The US State Department has indicated that the initial 10-day ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon, announced by President Donald Trump, could be extended by mutual agreement if negotiations progress and Lebanon demonstrates effective sovereignty. Both nations have requested US facilitation for further direct talks to resolve outstanding issues, while Israel reserves the right to self-defence and commits to refraining from military actions against Lebanese targets. This development underscores ongoing US diplomatic efforts to stabilise the region amid persistent tensions.",
