        "content": "<p>U.S. sets antidumping duties<\/p>\n<p>WASHINGTON (AFP): The U.S. Commerce Department on Tuesday<br>\nannounced proposed punitive duties for imports of carbon quality<br>\nsteel plate products from Japan, India, Indonesia, South Korea,<br>\nItaly and France.<\/p>\n<p>The duties will be applied if another U.S. agency, the<br>\nInternational Trade Commission, issues a final determination that<br>\nthe U.S. steel industry has in fact been harmed by such imports.<br>\nThe ITC has 45 days to issue its findings.<\/p>\n<p>The department published the duties that would be imposed on<br>\nsteel products deemed to have been unfairly subsidized by<br>\ngovernments and on those that have entered the United States at<br>\n\"dumping\" prices, that is, below fair-market value.<\/p>\n<p>The range of proposed duties on subsidized steel plate is from<br>\n1.73 to 47.71 percent on companies in France, India, Indonesia,<br>\nItaly and South Korea.<\/p>\n<p>Anti-dumping duties -- or margins -- on steel companies from<br>\nFrance, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan and South Korea range from<br>\n2.98 to 72.49 percent.<\/p>",
