        "content": "<p>U.S. seeks WTO panel on car policy<\/p>\n<p>TOKYO: The United States is expected to join Japan and the<br>\nEuropean Union in requesting a panel from the World Trade<br>\nOrganization's Dispute Settlement Body (DSB) to rule on<br>\nIndonesia's national car policy.<\/p>\n<p>According to Kyodo news service, the U.S. will request the<br>\npanel at the next DSB meeting to be held next Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>A panel to study the issue has already been approved by the<br>\nWTO following requests from Japan and the EU but so far, the U.S.<br>\nhas tried to pursue its own settlement.<\/p>\n<p>The U.S. has had lengthy bilateral talks with Jakarta in an<br>\neffort to gain better terms of market access to Indonesia for its<br>\nlarge cars.<\/p>\n<p>However, the expected WTO request would indicate that these<br>\ntalks have failed.<\/p>\n<p>If the U.S. panel is approved -- after a second request -- it<br>\nwould be integrated into the one already established at the<br>\nrequest of Japan and EU.<\/p>",
