"summary": "Average petrol prices in the United States have officially breached the US$4 per gallon threshold, driven by escalating armed conflict between Washington and Tehran. The spike reverses a brief dip in prices following a short-lived ceasefire agreement in June. The geopolitical instability has also triggered a surge in global oil prices, with analysts warning of further increases.",
"content": "<p>The average price of petrol in the United States officially surpassed\nthe US$4 threshold, or approximately Rp71,908 per gallon, on Monday\n(20\/7\/2026). According to local fuel statistics cited by RIA Novosti,\nthe price of Regular petrol touched US$4.003 per gallon, reversing a\ndecline to US$3.9 per gallon in mid-June shortly after the two nations\nsigned a memorandum of understanding. The increase is significant in\nseveral regions. In California, petrol is now priced at US$5.4 per\ngallon, with similar conditions observed in Washington and Hawaii, where\nthe price per gallon has exceeded US$5. However, prices in several\nstates such as Florida, Colorado, Virginia, Delaware, and New Mexico\nremain below the US$4 mark. Ohio currently records the lowest petrol\nprice in the United States at US$3.8 per gallon. This upward trend\ncorrelates with the surge in global oil prices due to geopolitical\nuncertainty. Relations between the US and Iran deteriorated again after\nthe US military launched a series of attacks starting 8 July, which were\nretaliated by Iran targeting several US military bases in the Middle\nEast. Tensions peaked when US President Donald Trump stated on 9 July\nthat the ceasefire agreement signed on 18 June was no longer valid. Iran\nhas accused Washington of violating the agreement, which was originally\nintended to end the conflict that has been ongoing since February\n2026.<\/p>",
