U.S. painter to hold solo show<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): American painter Ting Shao Kuang will hold an
\nexhibition at the Arta Graha building, Central Jakarta, from
\ntomorrow to May 18.<\/p>\n
According to Agenanda Djatmika, the chief of the organizing
\ncommittee, the purpose of the exhibition, which includes 45
\nlandscape paintings of Indonesia, is to raise funds for
\nscholarships for needy children.<\/p>\n
The exhibition is sponsored by Yayasan Binabhakti Mandiri and
\nP.T. Citraseni Indonesia Bagus. It will be opened by Minister of
\nYouth and Sport Hayono Isman, Antara reported.<\/p>\n
Ting has a keen interest in the beauty of the Orient. He has
\nalso been recognized by the United Nations as a human rights
\nactivist.<\/p>\n
The UN announced Ting's painting Light for Human Rights as the
\nsymbol of international unity.<\/p>\n
Another of Ting's paintings, Motherhood, was displayed at the
\nfourth International Congress of Women in Beijing in September
\n1995. This painting has also become a model for stamps as
\nrecognition for his contribution to women's rights. (24)<\/p>",
