U.S. offers credits to China, Indonesia<\/p>\n
WASHINGTON (Reuter): The U.S. Agriculture Department said it
\noffered a total of US$345 million in export credit guarantees to
\nChina, Indonesia, Slovakia, Poland and 19 African countries for
\nfiscal 1996.<\/p>\n
Indonesia was offered $160 million to assist in buying U.S.
\nfarm goods, China $100 million, Poland $25 million, Slovakia $10
\nmillion and Southern African nations $50 million.<\/p>\n
All credits would come from USDA's GSM-102 short-term credit
\nprogram.<\/p>\n
Indonesia was offered credits for purchase of oilseeds, wheat,
\nflour, feed grains, cotton, rice, protein meal, frozen or chilled
\nmeat, almonds, walnuts, potatoes, barley malt, hides and skins,
\nand farm-raised brine shrimp eggs.<\/p>\n
China was offered credits for purchases of oilseeds, wheat,
\nfeed grains, vegetable oil, cotton, solid wood products, wood
\npulp, wood chips, protein meals, potatoes, hops, hop extract,
\nwool, mohair, and hides and skins.<\/p>\n
Poland was offered credits for wheat, feed grains, oilseeds,
\nprotein meal, solid wood products, planting seeds, chilled or
\nfrozen meat, cotton and potatoes.<\/p>\n
Slovakia was offered credits for planting seeds, wheat, rice,
\nprotein meal, oilseeds, cotton, breeder livestock, and hides and
\nskins.<\/p>\n
Southern African nations were offered credits for oilseeds,
\nwheat, breeder livestock, feed grains, dairy products, vegetable
\noils, almonds and walnuts.<\/p>\n
The 19 nations in the Southern African region were Angola,
\nBotswana, Burundi, Kenya, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius,
\nMozambique, Namibia, Rwanda, Seychelles, South Africa, Swaziland,
\nTanzania, Uganda, Zaire, Zambia and Zimbabwe.<\/p>",
