A New York Times report, citing early this month's secret US intelligence assessment, reveals that Iran has maintained most of its missile sites along the Strait of Hormuz despite US-Israeli attacks. This contradicts President Donald Trump's claims that Iran's military was largely destroyed during the bombing campaign from 28 February to the 8 April ceasefire, with Iran restoring operational access to 30 of 33 missile sites capable of targeting US warships and tankers in this critical chokepoint for 20% of global oil and LNG trade. The findings underscore Iran's resilience, as it has closed the strait to "enemy ships," asserted control over maritime traffic, and imposed tolls in retaliation.

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, TEHERAN – Iran is maintaining most of its missile
sites along the Strait of Hormuz. Tehran is holding firm despite attacks
by the US and Israel. This is according to a report by The New York
Times on Tuesday, citing a secret intelligence assessment from early
this month.

The report follows a series of publications in American media that
refute claims by President Donald Trump that Iran’s military has largely
been destroyed during the US-Israeli bombing campaign that ran from 28
February until the ceasefire took effect on 8 April.

According to The Times, Iran has restored operational access to 30 of
33 missile sites along the Strait of Hormuz that are capable of
targeting US warships and tankers in that narrow waterway.

That route is the passage for 20 per cent of global oil and liquefied
natural gas trade.

Iran has closed that route to what they call “enemy ships” in
response to US and Israeli airstrikes. Since those attacks, Tehran has
insisted on the right to control all maritime traffic and collect
tolls.

The intelligence assessment cited by The Times reaffirms previous
reports that Iran has maintained about 70 per cent of its mobile missile
launchers and about 70 per cent of its pre-war missile stockpile.
",
