        "content": "<p>U.S. Islamic group snubs Malaysian PM<\/p>\n<p>KUALA LUMPUR (Reuters): Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir<br>\nMohamad, calling himself \"thick-skinned\", has hit back at a U.S.-<br>\nbased Islamic group in the latest international sparring over<br>\njailed former finance minister Anwar Ibrahim.<\/p>\n<p>Mahathir said he did not feel snubbed that the Illinois-based<br>\nIslamic Society of North America (ISNA) had withdrawn an<br>\ninvitation for the 74-year-old leader to address its convention<br>\nin Illinois next week.<\/p>\n<p>Local news reports said ISNA had backtracked on the invitation<br>\nafter members expressed indignation over the nine-year jail<br>\nsentence which Anwar received at the end of his sodomy trial this<br>\nmonth.<\/p>\n<p>The official Bernama news agency quoted Mahathir as saying<br>\nISNA had become an Anwar supporter.<\/p>",
