Trump said\nhe has agreed for the two countries to return to the negotiating\ntable.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Islamic Republic of Iran has asked us to continue \u2018talks\u2019. We\nhave agreed to do so,\u201d Trump wrote in a post on the social media\nplatform Truth Social, as reported by CNN on Friday (10\/7\/2026).<\/p>\n<p>Despite being open to restarting negotiations with Iran, Trump made\nclear he is unwilling to reverse his decision regarding the ceasefire.\nHe stated unequivocally that the ceasefire in the current US-Iran\nconflict has ended.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHowever, the United States has told them, in the strongest terms,\nthat the Ceasefire is OVER!\u201d Trump added.<\/p>\n<p>Diplomacy amid tensions<\/p>\n<p>A diplomat told CNN that Qatari negotiators coordinating with the\nUnited States have departed for Iran to meet officials there. Earlier, a\nUS official said the Trump administration\u2019s strategy was to launch\nstrikes before temporarily halting military operations. The move was\ntaken in an effort to prevent further escalation whilst leaving room for\na diplomatic path.<\/p>\n<p>For context, Donald Trump had already declared that the ceasefire\nwith Iran was no longer in effect. He made the announcement on Wednesday\n(8\/7) after Washington launched strikes against the Islamic Republic,\nwhich Iran responded to by targeting US military bases in the Gulf\nregion.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs far as I\u2019m concerned, it\u2019s over,\u201d Trump said at the NATO summit\nin Ankara, Turkey, when asked whether the ceasefire with Iran had\nended.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a waste of time dealing with them,\u201d he said, as quoted by AFP\non Wednesday (8\/7).<\/p>\n<p>Previously, the US military announced that its forces had completed\nthe latest operation targeting air defences, missile launch sites,\ncommand networks, and Iranian naval vessels.
