        "content": "<p>U.S. gives Thailand US$30m<\/p>\n<p>BANGKOK (AP): The U.S. plans to offer a US$30 million aid<br>\nprogram over three years to spur economic recovery in Thailand by<br>\nsupporting small businesses and public health.<\/p>\n<p>U.S. Ambassador Richard Hecklinger and Deputy Foreign Minister<br>\nSukhumbhand Paribatra signed an agreement Wednesday for the grant<br>\nfrom the U.S. Agency for International Development.<\/p>\n<p>\"The program will help form partnerships between private and<br>\ngovernment institutions of Thailand and the U.S. to promote<br>\nThailand's economic recovery and growth,\" Hecklinger said at the<br>\nsigning.<\/p>\n<p>It is part of a three-year regional initiative called<br>\n\"Accelerating Economic Recovery in Asia,\" which began this year<br>\nin Indonesia and the Philippines.<\/p>\n<p>The Thai program will also provide training for Thai banks -<br>\nwhich are swamped in bad loans - on credit management and debt<br>\nworkouts, a statement from the institute said.<\/p>",
