US Attorney General Pam Bondi has stated her commitment to complying\nwith the law regarding a subpoena to testify under oath before the US\nHouse Oversight Committee. This statement comes amid escalating tensions\nover the handling of millions of documents related to the Jeffrey\nEpstein case.<\/p>\n
\u201cI have made it very clear, I will follow the law,\u201d Bondi stressed to\nreporters on Capitol Hill on Wednesday evening (18\/3\/2026).<\/p>\n
Bondi explained that the Department of Justice has reviewed around 3\nmillion Epstein files, which she likened to being as tall as the Eiffel\nTower. She claimed that lawyers have worked to the maximum to protect\nthe identities of the victims in the process. \u201cWe are doing our best to\ncomply with the law. In agreement with Bondi, House Oversight Committee Chairman James\nComer described the Democrats\u2019 actions as disappointing and\npremeditated. \u201cThey came just to complain, they did not ask substantive\nquestions,\u201d Comer said.<\/p>\n
However, the hearing atmosphere became even more controversial after\nJames Comer confirmed the accuracy of reports regarding the insult he\ndirected at Democratic delegation member Summer Lee. Comer admitted he\ncalled Lee \u201cbitching\u201d inside the closed meeting room.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat\u2019s accurate,\u201d Comer said briefly when confirmed by reporters\nabout his rude remark.<\/p>\n
Although five Republican members agreed to depose Bondi, Comer\npersonally stated he saw no strong reason to proceed with the procedure.\nHe could not yet confirm whether the committee would impose criminal\ncontempt sanctions if Bondi refused to appear later.<\/p>\n
