Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Rector of Universitas Republik Indonesia\n(URI), Donny Ermawan Taufanto, stated that the university will prepare\nhuman resources with strong intellectual and emotional capacities to\nstrengthen the efforts of the Indonesian Food and Drug Authority (BPOM)\nin facing modern oversight challenges.<\/p>\n
\u201cNo matter how good the system we build, how sophisticated the\ntechnology we use, and how well the regulations we draft, everything\nwill depend heavily on the quality of human resources. Therefore, the\ndevelopment and strengthening of superior human resources must be one of\nthe main focuses of national development,\u201d he said in Jakarta on\nMonday.<\/p>\n
Donny noted that various conditions, such as geopolitical\ninstability, climate change, and technological advancements, demand\nincreasingly strong abilities for adaptation and anticipation. He\nremarked that a country can no longer be managed using entirely\nconventional approaches.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe need policies that are not only normatively good but also\nsubstantively appropriate, effective in implementation, and provide a\nreal impact for the community. One of the main foundations of policy\ntransformation is the application of evidence-based policy,\u201d he\nsaid.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn this context, data must serve as the basis for decision-making,\nscience must be the reference, and evaluation must be the instrument to\nensure policy effectiveness,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
Therefore, Donny stated, it is essential to have competent human\nresources who can think critically, dare to innovate, possess integrity,\nand maintain empathy and commitment.<\/p>\n
\u201cIntelligence without integrity can lose direction, while integrity\nwithout competence can lose power. Therefore, both must go hand in\nhand,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Through the Asta Cita programme, President Prabowo Subianto is\nstriving to develop human resources in the fields of science and\ntechnology through various strategic programmes, such as Sekolah Rakyat,\nSekolah Garuda, and scholarships from the Indonesia Endowment Fund for\nEducation (LPDP).<\/p>\n
\u201cIn line with that, specifically regarding the development of\nsuperior State-Owned Enterprise (BUMN) talent, the Presidential\nProgramme for Future Leaders (P3MD) is currently being implemented,\ninvolving 398 selected BUMN employees,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
